Employment while Enrolled at MTSA

MTSA strongly advises against working while enrolled in the DNAP Practice Doctorate program. The program is highly rigorous and demands significant time and focus for both academic and clinical components. Working during this period can compromise a student’s ability to meet these requirements successfully.

Part-Time Employment:
Students may work part-time only with prior written approval from the Program Administrator. Approval can be revoked if academic or clinical performance declines.

Students should avoid employment during the first five semesters due to the intensity of coursework and clinical training.  After that time, occasional work days during breaks may be possible, as long as it does not interfere with didactic and clinical activities and the student is maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

NOTE: Students may not be employed as nurse anesthetists—by title or function—at any point during the 36-month program.
